Yoga Therapy Workshops

Each workshop takes one theme and spends an afternoon on it — guided breath work, gentle movement, rest and reset. Groups at Yoga Home Amsterdam are limited to four participants, so please register in advance.

Balance your Hormones, Balance your Life

Perimenopause workshop

A seated stretch on the studio floor

Hormones are messengers with an effect on every system in the body. They are the part of our endocrine system that keeps brain, glands and organs talking to each other — supporting growth and development, maintaining homeostasis, regulating the reproductive system and shaping how we respond to stress.

During the workshop I explain the major hormones in a woman’s life and how to approach balancing them from a yin and yang perspective. There will be movement, breathing practices, yin postures and anti-stress techniques. Understanding what our hormones do, and how they react to the way we live, helps us make choices that support us through every stage of womanhood.

Restful Sleep

Yoga therapy for sleep

Resting in savasana with an eye pillow and blanket
“We must believe we are worthy of rest. We don’t have to earn it. It is our birthright. It is one of our most ancient and primal needs.”Tricia Hersey, Rest is Resistance

Sleep is the single most effective thing we can do to reset brain and body health each day. Adequate sleep is crucial for both physical and mental well-being, yet millions of people struggle to obtain the restorative rest they need.

In this workshop we learn the essential yoga therapy tools and techniques that support healthy sleep, in a safe and nurturing space to reconnect with your natural ability to relax and restore. An afternoon of guided breath work, gentle movement, rest and reset.

Happy Belly

For digestive issues

Hands making a heart shape around the belly

Yoga therapy is the adaptation and application of yoga practices to help reduce the symptoms of digestive health issues, restore balance, increase vitality and improve quality of life.

The body has many feel-good hormones that lift mood, support general well-being and strengthen the immune system — and a high percentage of them are produced in the gut. The digestive system is directly connected to the central nervous system, sending signals both ways. Stress and anxiety interact with our digestive health, a struggling gut affects our mood, and a well-nourished gut quietly improves our sense of well-being.

If you have been living with digestive complaints such as IBS, gastric reflux, gastritis or ulcers, this afternoon is for you. We practise gentle movement, breathing and relaxation techniques, and learn tools you can easily apply in daily life.

Don’t Worry, Be Free

Stress relief and restoring your balance

A joyful leap on a terrace in the evening sun

The first priority of every living being is to stay safe. Stress and worry accumulate in the system over time and put our well-being at risk. In this workshop we work through the physical body to free the resistance that has built up.

Gentle flows and movement with a yoga therapy approach, together with restorative poses, support the natural homeostasis of the body. It is a gentle practice day that helps you feel light, while learning tools to release stress, fear and anxiety, and to find the steadiness within your own awareness.

An afternoon for yourself

Workshops run in small groups and are scheduled as soon as a group comes together. Tell me which theme interests you and which days suit you, and I will let you know the next date.
